REMODELING BY THE PROJECT

THE FULL HOME

The full home remodel typically means you want to do it all. Definitely the kitchen and bathrooms, maybe even the flooring and baseboards. This could include texture and usually paint. This could include new lighting and maybe even doors. There is no requirement on what you do but any time we work in multiple rooms with multiple trades, we refer to it as a full home remodel.

THE KITCHEN

The kitchen remodel is not as extensive as a full home remodel but makes a very similar impact. As they say, the kitchen is the heart of the home. Kitchen remodels are actually a lot of fun and a lot quicker than most people think. The kitchen remodel is a good place to start when weighing between different projects.

THE BATHROOM

The bathroom remodel is what I refer to as the more personal remodel. It’s truly where you choose to do something entirely for yourself as other people aren’t spending time in your bathroom the way they might in your kitchen. The bathroom is also a lot quicker than you might think and makes a good finale or a good opener to your home remodeling projects.

REMODELING BY THE TRADE

Remodeling by the trade means you want to knock out the trades or finishes one by one without any commitment towards a bigger project. All of our trades listed under “New Construction” and “Remodeling” are available for individual hire but the most common are typically requested as the following.

-Demo
-Framing
-Popcorn Removal
-Texture
-Tile
-Vinyl
-Cabinets
-Countertops
-Paint
-Lighting

In order to begin, you must first decide what you’re looking to get done

THE HOME

The full home remodel typically means you want to do it all. From the kitchen and bathrooms, to the flooring, baseboards, texture, paint, lights and even doors. It does not require you to do all but any time we do multiple rooms, we refer to it as a full home remodel. This is is our number one service as we truly take on the role of one stop shop.

THE KITCHEN

The kitchen remodel is not as extensive as a full home remodel but makes a very similar impact as they say the kitchen is the heart of the home. Kitchen remodels are fun and a lot quicker than most people think. It only requires a couple of decisions starting with the cabinets and countertops, ending with the backsplash, handles, faucet, sinks and appliances. The kitchen remodel is a good option to start with when you’re weighing between different projects.

THE BATHROOM

The bathroom remodel is what I refer to as the more personal remodel. It’s truly where you choose to do something entirely for yourself as most people aren’t spending time in your bathroom the way they might in your kitchen. The bathroom is also a lot quicker than most think and a good finale to wrapping up your home remodeling projects or a good start if you want to see how quick and clean we work

Here’s a list of our individual trades to help knockoutany project, big or small.

HOW THE REMODELING PROCESS WORKS

THE PREPARATION

THE IN-HOME ESTIMATE
“THE PLANS”

The in-home estimate is our first step into your home and the first step in putting our plans together. This is where you tell us exactly what you’re looking to get done, where we measure our spaces and assess the possible design options. This is what allows us to properly render a design and put a proposal together, creating our Game Plan which we will follow throughout the execution.

THE SHOWROOM VISIT
“THE MATERIALS”

The showroom visit is the time for us to review the design and proposal while educating you on your material options and guiding you in your material selection. This appointment begins our material list in which we will track the selection, ordering and delivery of these items.

THE FINAL ASSESSMENT
“THE SUBS”

The final piece of preparation is the final sub assessments. This is where the masters of their trades come in to see the space, the scope and let us know if there’s anything we’ve missed. This is how we finalize the contract and begin the execution.

HOW THE PROCESS WORKS

THE PREPARATION:

THE IN-HOME ESTIMATE

This is where the magic begins. Where we get to measure our spaces and assess the possible design options and hear from you exactly what you’re looking to get done. This is what allows us to properly put a design and scope of work together.

THE SHOWROOM VISIT

This is where the dream starts to come to life. This is the time for us to review the design and proposal. Where we educate you on your material options and guide you in your selection. This is where we start to color in our canvas.

THE FINAL ASSESMENT

The final piece of preparation is the final sub assessments. This is where the masters of their trades come in to see the space, the scope and let us know if there’s anything we’ve missed. This is how we finalize the contract and begin the execution.

THE EXECUTION

As each project is different, the execution for each project will be as well but the execution always begins with the beginning steps of the preparation, “The Plans”, and “The Materials”. The execution begins by finalizing the trade timeline and coordinating material deliveries accordingly. Continuing to guide you as we’re ready for certain materials to be selected. When the trade execution begins, that’s when the client gets to sit back and let us begin the transformation. Upon completion of the countertops we begin our trade punch-lists, wrapping up the final details. We do a preliminary walkthrough after our first round of completed punch-lists allowing you the opportunity to point out any touch-ups of your own. Upon completion of that list, we schedule the final walkthrough.

THE GAME PLAN

The Game Plan is the preparation of the execution. Probably the most important part of the execution process. The Game Plan lays out how the job will get done beginning to end, step by step. chronologically in trade order. It is composed alongside The Material List where delivery dates will be cross referenced in accordance to the proposed trade timeline. This is truly how I guarantee success in beginning and closing a home renovation.. As the saying goes, By failing to prepare, you’re preparing to to fail.” My motto is the opposite, “Strategic preparation for a timely execution.”

THE TRADES

This is where the real execution begins. Trade by trade, according to our game plan, we make our way towards the finish line. As the work gets completed, who is holding that work to a certain standard and guaranteeing that the work is done according to plan and to your liking? We are. Upon completion of each trade, a punch-list is created so those little things aren’t missed and each trade is schedule for a final punch-out where those final iterns are taken care of. “It is the follow-through that is the difference between ultimate success and failure.”

THE FINAL WALKTHROUGH

Some contractors you meet are only there in the beginning. They close the sale and like a magician, they’re gone. The One Building Company is with you every step of the way and not just because we have to be but because we love to be. I truly believe that is what stands us apart from the rest. Falling in love with each project, watching the transition and seeing the final beauty that we envisioned come together. To me a job is not complete until there’s a smile on your face and our hands shake. The final walkthrough is where that happens. Where we hug and leave you to enjoy your beautiful new home and capture our final photos.
To select materials, you’ll need to know your materials.
THE CABINETS

FRAMED

Framed cabinets are not called framed because of the shaker border you see around the door. It is actually because of the face frames in which the doors are attached that allow for easier installation in which they get their names. The most common framed cabinets are the new shaker style that still give you the traditional look but in a clean and more modern way.

FRAMELESS

Just like the framed cabinetry, the name frameless does not just come from the flat panel door you see. The name comes from the lack of face frame attached to the box. The door is secured onto the inside wall of the cabinets verses the front frame. The most common frameless cabinets are the flat panel euro-style as shown above.

THE FLOORING

MAN-MADE

Quartz is typically known as a man-made material but is in fact man made out of the same crystals found in natural quartzites. A man made process binds these crystals with resins, pigments and other materials resulting in a durable, non porous material, known today as quartz. Due to its waterproof nature, it is a popular option in bathrooms and most kitchens and can be used for other applications such as tub surrounds and shower walls.
NATURAL STONE
Natural stone refers to both granite and quartzites. Both formed 100% organically deep within the earth, extracted in blocks by quarrying. Natural stone is strong, durable and can withstand high temperatures, which makes it great for outdoor applications. Marble is the most porous of natural stone and in my opinion, best to stay away from. Quartzite is the stronger and more durable opponent to marble. Although is a little more porous than granite, once sealed, nothing can compare.

VINYL PLANKS

Luxury vinyl planks have become a fan favorite for their convincing wood-like qualities, easy installation and new water resistant features. Vinyl planks are a good choice to run throughout the main flooring in common rooms, bedrooms and even the kitchen. Being water resistant, not waterproof, it is best to stick with tile in the bathrooms.
